... WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SUNDAY...
THE WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SUNDAY.
* SNOWFALL... 6 TO 12 INCHES WITH UP TO 18 INCHES POSSIBLE FOR THE HIGHER PEAKS OF THE UPPER SNAKE HIGHLANDS. VALLEY LOCATIONS WILL SEE UP TO 6 INCHES.
* WINDS... WINDS WILL BE SUSTAINED AT 20 TO 40 MPH MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 60 MPH AT TIMES.
* LOCATIONS INCLUDE... MONIDA PASS... ISLAND PARK... RAYNOLDS PASS... TARGHEE PASS AND HIGHWAY 33 LEADING TO TETON PASS.
* IMPACTS... SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL PRODUCE WIDESPREAD BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND LOCALIZED BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN SOME AREAS. TRAVEL WILL BECOME VERY HAZARDOUS BY LATER SATURDAY ESPECIALLY FOR SOME HIGHER PASSES. BE PREPARED FOR POTENTIAL ROAD CLOSURES AS WELL. TRAVEL AND VENTURING INTO THE BACKCOUNTRY IS DISCOURAGED UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
